The Danish capital, København, is probably best known for its 150-year-old Tivoli Gardens, its lively pedestrian mall, Strøget, the quaint royal palace of Amalienborg and the picturesque harbour district, Nyhavn.

Though gourmets would say these sights cannot compare to the rich array of inns and restaurants the capital offers. You should not miss one of Denmark's music festivals. Best known are the København Jazz Festival and the Roskilde Festival.

For a more rural experience, you can visit one of the many friendly towns on Jutland´s east coast and admire the Danish agricultural landscape from the train.

Skagen is well worth a visit; the light, the sandy beaches and the dramatic meeting between the two seas has been an inspiration for many, not least the artists who were part of the famous Skagen school of painters. Their works are on display at the Skagen Museum.

There are plenty of famous Danes, both past and present. In Helsingør you can see Kronborg Castle, home to Shakespeare´s Hamlet. Close by, in Rungsted, lies the Karen Blixen Museum, where the well-known author once lived. By the water´s edge in Humlebæk, with a wonderful view across Øresund, lies the Louisiana Museum, renowned for its progressive attitude towards art. Come and enjoy one of the special exhibitions as well as the permanent sections displaying modern art, graphics and photography.
On Funen, the «Flower Island», the gardens resemble Eden itself. Roam through enchanting parks, or wander around one of the countless castles and manors. Here, you will also find Odense, Denmark´s «fairy-tale town» and birthplace of the country´s most famous story-teller, Hans Christian Andersen.
