The ScanRail Pass may be used on most trains in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Amongst the exceptions there is the Flåm line in Norway and the Inlandsbanan in Sweden.

What is a ”travel day”?

One travel day generally lasts from midnight to midnight. If however, a journey starts with a train that leaves after 19:00, the next day's date may be inserted in the date field on the ticket.

Travel with the bonus partners

When the ScanRail Pass is used for discount on a boat-, train- or bus company, you do not need to fill out the date field on the Flexi Pass. You only use travel days when travelling by train or bus included in the ScanRail Pass.

1. On the ferry routes the discount only applies to the basic fare. Normally no discount is granted on cabin supplement, etc.
2. The pass is not transferable. Proof of identity has to be presented to the train staff.
3. Seat reservation is compulsory on most long distance trains, and a fee must be paid.
4. Payment of supplement is required on some trains (i.e. X2000 (SJ), Linx trains, Pendolino, IC (VR Ltd.) and night
trains).
5. You can make as many stops as you like without any formalities.
6. The pass does not entitle the holder to any discount on seat, couchette, sleeper or cabin reservations.
7. Registration of luggage is subject to the usual rules.
8. This pass can be neither refunded nor replaced if lost or stolen, if partially used, or if submitted for refund after
the first day of validity, or after 6 months from the date of issue. In case of completely unused non-validated pass, refund applications must be submitted to the office where the pass was purchased with the original documents. The refundable allowance is subject to a deduction determined by the issuing office.
9. The following must be observed by holders of a pass valid for a selected number of days:
• For journeys by trains, where the journey starts after 19:00, the following day’s date must be inserted in
the date panel. However, the journey must take place within the period of validity of the pass. In case the
date is missing the control staff is permitted to demand an extra fee.
• The date must be inserted vertically in the date panel with an indelible ball-pen before starting the journey.
• The pass is valid from midnight to midnight on the date of use indicated on the calendar.
10. If the passenger is unable to state the first day of validity at the time of issue, the ScanRail Pass will be issued with the date open. The validity dates must then be inserted by the station from which the ScanRail Pass is used for
the first time. However, the pass must be rendered valid within 6 months from the sale. (Applies to overseas passes only). In case validation is made on the train, an extra fee is to be paid.
